Opportunities at Elfreth's Alley

Volunteers Wanted

The Elfreth's Alley Association is seeking people to help share the story of Elfreth's Alley with visitors from around the world. We have a number of exciting volunteer opportunities! If you are interested in on of the following opportunities, please contact us at information@elfrethsalley.org or call 215-574-0560 for more information (and please share these opportunities with your friends)!

Docent/Educator: Docents provide guided tours of Elfreth's Alley and Mantua Makers, Mary Smith and Sara Melton's House at 126 Elfreth's Alley. Tours last approximately 30 minutes and cover topics including urban development, immigration, work, and historic preservation. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in interacting with thousands of visitors from around the world, is comfortable with public speaking, and enjoys sharing Philadelphia's history with others.

Special Events: Be a house greeter for Fete Day or Deck the Alley, our two annual open houses. See our events calendar for more information.

Committees: The Elfreth's Alley Association has several committees comprised of both Board members and non-Board members. We are looking for people who want to contribute their time and expertise to help our organization share our stories with the world. Specifically we're looking for people for the following committees: Property & Preservation, Education, Development, and Finance. We need a wide variety of skills, but mostly we want people who are committed to making a difference! Committee meetings vary based on the availability of the individual members, but are generally once per month either in the mornings or early evenings.
